The article is from about 8 months ago which is before last summer. From same, the Terps had an interest but had not offered.

  • Thanks. I hadn't looked for a date. Where would he rank on a comparable list today?

247 is more favorable towards him than most, but they have him as the 20th overall player in the country, 4th best PG nationally and the top player in Maryland. Their composite rankings have him as the 40th player nationally, 7th PG, and again best in the state.

No apology needed. Kind of thought I'd look like a douche posting a date "correction" but also thought it was worth noting how much this kid's rating (and desirability) have grown........

  • What do people think this will do to his progression as a player? I assume he'll heal 100% from the surgury, so that's not my question.

How much does he lose from missing his senior year, and the added competition he won't be playing against? In essense, he'll have gone from his last basketball being his junior year/last summer play, to sitting out a full year, and then being thrown into high level college play. The few times I've noticed Terps sitting out extended periods, they seemed behind and rusty (NO surprise) when they finally did return to competition e.g. Burney, Pankey, etc. (I know neither of them was ranked #20 nationally).

One big difference (other than national ranking) is that Burney and Pankey both had busted wheels; Burney never really healed. I suspect both would have seemed behind even if they had come in 100% healthy.

Peters has already played and excelled against high level competition. He also doesn't have to learn to walk, run and jump again. However, it may take some time to regain his shooting stroke... We'll see

Luckily its his left arm (hes right handed) so it shouldn't affect his stroke TOO much. He could play through the injury (as evidenced by the video) but he's getting the surgery now so he'll be fully ready for next year, or at least thats the plan. I'm optimistic, but we'll see

Great article. You expect his coach will be positive about him, but it still made me optimistic that he'll be a major contributor as an upperclassmen.

Doubt it. He is really uncoordinated and has knock knees. He's James Padgett 2.0

His outside shot is really fucking ugly too, this feels like a huge miss

I'm not really concerned with a 6-9 245 pound center having a beautiful outside shot.

I'm not going to dismiss folks negative comments so quickly. Why don't you tell us how many times you've watched Dodd play, why you think he is uncoordinated, etc.

Having watched him play twice, I fall somewhere in between you and his coach. He could contribute right away on the Defensive end and as a rebounder, but his Offensive game needs work. Calling him uncoordinated is just not warranted. Like his coach said, he runs the floor really well; better than any big we have now except Layman. At 1st glance, he appears taller than his listed 6'-9" but thin as a rail. A year or two in our S&C program could really help this kid. weights_bar . weights . shake
