A report on Twitter this afternoon claimed that Pittsburgh coach Jamie Dixon would be meeting with Maryland athletic director Kevin Anderson about the Terps basketball job. That appears highly unlikely. Dixon is not a candidate for the job, several sources have told InsideMDSports.com.
Maryland did inquire at some point with Dixon, who reportedly expressed initial interest before removing himself from consideration – and according to a source, recommending another Big East coach for the job. The job wasn’t offered to Dixon and talks never became serious.
As first reported by InsideMDSports.com early Friday, Anderson is expected to reach an agreement with Arizona's Sean Miller this weekend, barring any unforeseen hold-ups. The 41-year-old coach, who has long coveted the Maryland job, also shares a reportedly uneasy relationship with Arizona A.D. Greg Byrne.
