    • good move making Gattuso assistant HC.

Sucks DeSouza can't play again but glad he'll be able to learn the coaching ropes.

-- Maryland added a walk-on, defensive lineman Yannick Cudjoe-Virgil, from Division II Seton Hall this semester. Cudjoe-Virgil will start practicing with the Terps this spring.

It says he is 6/3, 237? I hope that is wrong. If not, this guy will have some serious work to get his weight up to play DL.

I agree. In a 4-3 your rush end can be 6'3 237. That is a little undersized, but if they have enough speed oFf the edge, much coaches will live with it. In a 3-4, a 6'3 237 pound player in a LB.

I'm bummed Pete won't play in 2012. I watched him a lot in warm up and thought he would be ready the next season. I am glad Edsall is keeping him involved and agree with a previous poster that this is a classy move.

Do you mean that the Duke game will be every three years? Please amplify? We currently get a home game against Duke every other year...

We currently get a home game with Duke every year in basketball. Maybe you were talking about football?

Not after Pitt and Syracuse join.

When Syracuse and Pitt join, the Terps will get a home game with Duke two out of every three seasons. So the original statement: "a home game against Duke will not happen every three years" is correct.

The reason is that when Cuse and Pitt join, the Terps will play their non-primary opponents four times over a three-year span (one year is a home-and-home, one is home and one is away).

Since Pitt will be Maryland's primary partner, during that same three-year span, they'll play each other six times with a home-and-home every season.

Football scheduling stays the same but with just one added conference game per season, with each team playing the other six teams in its own division, it's primary parter and two rotating teams from the other division.

Syracuse joined the Atlantic Division, meaning the Terps will play Syracuse every year in football when the the two new schools join the conference.

                            • That means we get the other six teams in the Coastal every 3 years. They will only be in Byrd every 6 years. That's a great way to maintain rivalries. NOT! fail

The more I think about this the more it pisses me off. Why the hell isn't geographic? UVa, VaTech and Pitt @ Byrd only once every 6 years? Stupid.

It could be phrased much better.

I believe it is one home game here, one away game the following year, so 2 home games out of three is technically correct, but suggests we are getting 2 home games here for one home game there. When it is really a home game every other year. I'd prefer to meet Duke here twice as many times as we meet them there, which is how your phraseology could read, but that is not going to be the case, unless Coach K went brain dead.

                                  I am going to check

                                  • So, does Pitt replace UVA as our annual coastal division matchup in football?

I would think not considering UVA and VT are both in the Coastal, so UVA needs a yearly Atlantic opponent. I'd expect Pitt and Syracuse to be cross division opponents every year.

It's a three year cycle, not a two year cycle, so it's one home game here, one away game the following year, then home games both places the third year, like so:

                                        Year 1: at Maryland
                                        Year 2: at Duke
Year 3: at Maryland, at Duke
                                        Year 4: at Maryland
                                        Year 5: at Duke
Year 6: at Maryland, at Duke

So BOTH teams get home games two out of three years. No imbalance there. It's not Terps get two home games out of three. It's Terps get home games two out of every three seasons.
