Maryland quarterback Devin Burns intends to transfer from College Park and enroll at another institution, a team official confirmed to InsideMDSports.
With Burns leaving the program, the Terps' will have six quarterbacks on roster for next season: C.J. Brown, Caleb Rowe, Dustin Dailey, Perry Hills, Ricardo Young and incoming freshman Shane Cockerille.
More pressing, though, is the Terps' quarterback situation for spring practice. Hills and Rowe, both of whom suffered torn ACLs during the season, have been ruled out for spring practice, while Brown will be a limited participant. Cockerille does not arrive until summer camp.
WIth only Dailey and Young available for spring practice, look for converted linebacker Shawn Petty, who started under center in Maryland's final four games of the season, to continue to get reps at quarterback.
Burns suffered a Linsfranc injury against NC State this season. Had he remained in College Park, he would have also been a limited participant in spring practice. He finished with 70 rushing yards, 47 passing yards and one rushing touchdown this season.
